Supporting Northampton Lighthouse Centre

Our choir members voted on the charity to support at our Christmas concert 2024. The chosen charity was The Lighthouse Centre, Northampton.

The Lighthouse Centre are a local charity offering palliative care and support to those facing the challenges of a daunting diagnosis.

From their website:

‘When pain and tiredness make your days seem hard to manage
When fear and anxiety are holding you back
When a life on medication seems almost inevitable
Let The Lighthouse Centre Show You a New Path

The Lighthouse Centre’s aim is is to provide palliative care to patients with long term medical conditions or cancers to support their quality of life during a time of vulnerability.

We are pleased to support this very worth cause and last night we presented our donation of £1,000 from the proceeds of our recent concerts to Gemma and her colleague from The Lighthouse Centre.

A big thank you to our supporters

Northamptonshire Community Foundation logoWe are very grateful to the Northamptonshire Community Foundation who have recently approved a grant of £3,000 to help us upgrade our sound system from analogue to digital.

The Northampton Community Foundation has supported us well over the past few years.  This latest grant is the third award that NCF has made to Earls Barton Music.

Ian, our fundraiser says:

We are engaged in a three-year project to upgrade the sound and lighting systems.  Phase 1 was the purchase of 10 lit music stands, completed at a cost of £1770. Phase 2 is the completion of the lighting upgrade at a cost of £3272. The latest award will be used to complete Phase 3, upgrading the sound system at a total cost of £6595.

With all this investment in our technical equipment we are in need of additional tech crew members. These are voluntary positions, but being part of the tech crew would provide excellent training opportunities for budding music technicians – under the tutelage of our technician, Dave, and using our modern sound and lighting systems. Contact us if you are able to join the team.
